Card printers can print in two ways: Thermal Transfer or Re-transfer.
In Thermal printers, the print head reaches a specific temperature to transfer colors from a ribbon onto the card, completing the printing process directly on the card.
In Re-transfer printers, the image to be printed is first transferred onto a clear transfer film by the print head, which heats the ribbon to transfer colors. Then, the image on the transparent film is transferred onto the card using heat in a separate unit.
In this printing technique, the print head does not come into contact with the card. The print quality is very high, and there are no gaps left at the edges of the printed card.
